AC Not Cooling in Kadapa? 8 Real Reasons & How to Fix

Cooling isn't 'making cold air' — it's moving heat out of the room. Refrigerant gas inside the indoor coil absorbs heat from your room air, then pumps it outside through the copper pipe to the outdoor condenser, where the heat is dumped into the open air. If anything along that loop is broken, blocked or low, cooling stops.

This is why the four most common failures all relate to airflow (filter, outdoor unit) or refrigerant (gas leak, frozen coil). Once you know that, diagnosis becomes simple.

Out of every 10 'AC not cooling' calls our Kadapa team attends, more than 9 are caused by one of these:

1. Low refrigerant gas — slow leak built up over 2–3 years. Symptom: AC blows air but not cold; copper pipe outside is hot instead of cold.
2. Clogged air filter — dust from Kadapa's dry climate chokes airflow; coil eventually freezes.

4. Close all doors and windows. A 1.5 ton split AC simply can't cool a room with an open door — it'll run non-stop and your electricity bill will jump 40%. Also check ceiling/wall gaps where AC pipe enters the room — seal with putty.

5. Check the voltage. If voltage drops below 200V (common in Kadapa during peak summer), the compressor won't start properly. A 4 kVA stabiliser solves this and protects your AC for years.

• AC blowing hot air — refrigerant low or compressor not running.
